Okay... so I finally saw this week's Smallville... When they advertised that Clark was going to run into "The Flash", my first question was "Barry or Wally?" My second question was "Or are they going to do something weird and go with Bart?"
Oddly enough, they went with Bart but they turned him into some lonely, jadded street kid (who just happens to have fake ID's naming him after the three TRUE Flashes).

Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig
That's what it's come down to...
Mom's concern about my weight and all the health problems she sees developing out of it...
So... in her efforts to make sure that I 1) Out live her, 2) don't develop diabetes and 3) don't die of heart disease... she's suggested that I join a weight loss program... which I can't afford but she'll gladly pay for so that I can start dropping weight.
Oh yes... her reasoning is all very encouraging... Very positive there...
I even mentioned that to her... to which her response was something along the lines of not knowing how she can put a more positive spin on her wanting me to lose weight than her wanting me to be healthier...
Nevermind that I don't really need to go on a diet since I don't eat all that much to begin with. Nevermind that I'm taking Tai Chi on weekends and that I've started working with my weights again. Nevermind that I have dropped about 5-8 pounds in the last two months...
Mom doesn't see an improvement. She sees me looking worse... which is even more encouraging. I swear... everyone else I know might see that I'm losing weight and she'll see just the opposite. And I wonder why I'm so screwed up some times...
You know... if she really wants to pay for me to do something... MORE... about my weight... why doesn't she pay for me to join a gym... or find a martial arts dojo that offers a class I want to take, at a time I can take it. Or just get off my back about it!! Because I am actually doing something about it.
This works both ways, ya know...
Dad said something when I was over at the house doing laundry. He said I only need them for their laundry facilities now a days. And it's true that I've only really been going over there lately to do my laundry... But something about the way he said it bothered me.
As the afternoon wore on yesterday... and even today, all the responses I could have made to that comment have been running through my mind. From "Why not? You think Esowolf uses me for my car." to "No, I just haven't been interested in leaving my apartment on weekends."
But something that's been sticking in my mind is the fact that yes, I have been going over there only when I need to do laundry. But it's not like they've been calling me or wanting me to come by for anything else, at any other time.
And yes, I do know that this whole concept works both ways... I could call them to come have dinner or something at my place... Not that dinners at my place work logistically... not having an acutal dinning room... with a table that requires chairs. But they don't call me either, so I don't really feel guilty about not making an effort either. Besides, Mom would prefer to not spend time in my dusty, unclean apartment.
Let's face it.... my family's never been all that tight knit. Oma and Opa lived 3 blocks a way for most of my life and I wouldn't always see them either. Grandma... well... she's pushed everyone in her life a way. We don't really have much to do with the rest of the people in our family except around the holidays or when Mom and I go to Germany. I still find it amazing that all the crap that's been going on with Grandma lately has gotten my cousin in Scotland emailing and calling us as much as she does now (correction... calling and emailing mom and dad).
::Sigh:: I don't know where I'm going with this... I guess maybe I don't want to be the only one making an effort.

Bed hopping and other stuff...
Trust me... it's not as kinky as it sounds.
Last night, simply, is the first night it's been cool enough for me to go back to sleeping in my bedroom... in an actual BED, rather than on the futon in my office. The move last night prompted a momentary panic this morning when I woke up not knowing what time it was... due to the fact that I didn't bother moving my clock back into the bedroom...
One of these days I'm going to remember to buy another alarm clock, to put in my office... Moving back into my bedroom has also reminded me that I need to get another box for my comic book collection... grrrr...
I had another moment of panic last night when I got home and checked my snail mail. When I pulled out all the crap from last night, there was a little envelope from my bank with a notice that looked suspiciously like the kind I get when I don't have enough money in my bank account to cover a charge I've made. Having not made any charges lately, I panicked, thinking something had been charged to my account without my knowledge... fortunately, it was simply a notice that the CD I opened 5 months ago would be matureing next month... Wheew...
On more "frivilous" money fronts - that's what Mom would call it, anyway - the annual pass for Disneyland I bought last year will be running out the weekend after Esowolf's birthday. Now, originally, I was just going to let the thing run out because I didn't think I'd be spending as much time down there this coming year... And then I realized that I have at least 3 Disneyland trips scheduled for end of October, through November...
So... in classic Adrianne creative financing style, I canceled the two pending Amazon orders I had (I'll get Aladdin, Mulan and Ed Wood at a later date), figuring that I can manage to get my credit card paid down enough by the end of next month to renew my pass... Sadly, this also means that I'm probably not going to be getting my next tattoo until my birthday or next Halloween... :(

On the Phantom Movie...
So... I've seen the trailer for this (I actually saw it several months ago). I'm still afraid of what Joel Schummacher is going to do to one of my favorite musicals... However, I'm slightly comforted by the fact that the trailer doesn't look that bad and does not contain the slightest hint of neon...
