Movies that Deserve More Love

Because Mischa's journal put me up to it...

100 Movies that Deserve More Love

My picks:

30. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) - I haven't paid to see an animated Disney Movie in theaters since Aladdin... I paid to see this one. It's one of the few Disney movies I decided I had to own... It's that amazing.
43. James and the Giant Peach (1996) - Except for the part where Jack Skellington was relegated to a dead pirate, this movie was awesome and really captured the magic of the book.
48. LA Story (1991) - "That's because they're real"... heh....
51. Universal Soldier (1992) - Jean Claude Van Dame chilling in a tub full of ice... heh...
62. Stir of Echoes (1999) - I swear I'd seen this movie before when I first saw it. Woah...
66. Ed Wood (1994) - It pissed me off that the make up team for this movie beat out Frankenstein that year, but other than that... Tim Burton's a fuckin' genius.
91. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) - My second favorite Batman movie of all time.
92. Gremlins 2 (1990) - The lake of melting gremlin goo at the end aside, we have Rambo Gizmo, a super genius gremlin, Christopher Lee and Grandpa Munster. Fuck yeah!!!
93. Pump Up The Volume (1990) - I didn't get to see this until way after I'd finished high school. Makes me wish I had...

Breather

Well, hello there! Yes I know, it's been a long time. I've gotten really lazy and too preoccupied with finishing school to have any desire to do much else... I also needed a rest. I've been going almost non-stop for 15+ months, after all. I deserve a break, don't I?

But let's see if I can sum up what's been happening in the last month or so...

1. I've officially finished culinary school.
2. I'm an official graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu program... official graduation ceremony involving the conferrals of all appropriate documents and honors forthcoming.
3. I'm not a chef. That takes years and much experience and knowing the right people
4. I'm attempting to get back in shape.
5. Most of my plants have died. I'm slowly re-planting them.
6. The story I sent to Realms of Fantasy was rejected as not standing out enough.
7. Earthshadow is now completely and totally mine!!
8. The tripled car tax in California this year means that my registration fee for Earthshadow is about $5 less than it was last year, when I had an outstanding parking ticket.
9. I'm still poor.
10. My apartment is slowly getting cleaned.
11. I've now seen Pirates of the Caribbean twice.
12. I'm still working on that script idea
13. But I've had major writer's block for the past several months.
14. My plumeria tree no longer looks like a phallic symbol and will actually be producing flowers soon!!
15. Pictures forthcoming.
16. I've finally managed to take a pic of the tattoo I got 2 1/2 years ago.
17. I know it's not a good pic. I had to prop the camera up on my shower door to take it.
18. I know it's a couple days early, but on the off chance I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WIGHEAD!!!!!
19. I will be making updates to this site... eventually
20. I need to reorganize my links page.
21. I've become hooked on Queen of Wands and Oh My Gods!
22. I have to get used to the idea of being at home and having to cook for myself.
23. I'm still adjusting to life without school.
24. I'm bored out of my fucking mind
25. And I think that's pretty much everything right now...

Things your internet customer service rep doesn't need...

Things your internet customer service rep doesn't need to know about when you contact them... (gleaned from almost 3 1/2 years of working in the dungeons of an internet company.)

1. We don't need to know how many fans your computer has. - And if your the CTO of a company and think this information is absolutely necessary, I worry for your company.
2. We don't need to know what kind of credit card you are using or what the limit is. - Unless of course the credit card company is regularly blocking charges and then we'll ask but otherwise we don't care.
3. We don't need to know what your IQ is - Even geniuses can be complete morons when it comes to computers. Telling us that you ARE a genius only gives us more to make fun of later.
4. We don't need to know what color your CPU tower is. - We don't have to see your computer. We don't have to know that if it's black, white or paisley and we don't care! ...Again if you're the CTO of a company, I fear you.
5. We do not need to know that you paid for the service. - Of course you did - unless you're a free customer. Paying for something does not guarantee that it will work 100%. Please refer to Murphy's Law.
6. Exactly how bad you think our staff is. - Telling us that you think our staff belongs in welfare lines will not put you in our good graces and may make things worse for you, since we'll probably cancel your account on principle.

100 things about me

(Mischa's inspired me and I'm bored)

1. It's very likely that no one will read this entry until Saturday.
2. Along with the other 3 entries I've written this week.
3. I can survive on 5 hours of sleep... barely.
4. I spend a lot of my weekend sleeping.
5. I'm still trying to figure out why the Universe put me here at this moment in time.
6. I shared a room with my sister until I was 10.
7. I then shared a camper with my entire family while our house was remodeled.
8. After that, my sister and I shared the concrete floor of the den until our new rooms were inhabitable (we had mattresses and sleeping bags).
9. I fell off a bar on the playground at school when I was in 5th grade and blacked out.
10. Received my first and only ambulance ride because of it.
11. Ever since, I still love heights... as long as there's no possible way I can fall.
12. I couldn't ride roller coasters until I was 10 too scared.
13. I haven't been to an amusement park since I was 19.
14. My story ideas are great... until I start writing them down.
15. When I was 2, I watched Mom and Grandma scream at each other in my driveway.
16. A lot of the time, I'm pretty certain that they only keep me working here because I know more than a lot of people here.
17. I'd do pretty much anything for people I care about.
18. I like having my own space.
19. I can live alone, but I don't like to be alone all the time.
20. I firmly believe that basic elements necessary to live, such as food, shelter, clothing, power, etc should not be things one has to pay for.
21. My dream is to own a really big house so that all my friends can live together, yet still have their own space.
22. I believe that the destruction of the Library of Alexandria is one of the world's greatest tragedies.
23. A roach just crawled across my desk here at work.
24. I killed it with a Neopets notebook.
25. I recently discovered that I like braised rabbit.
26. Fundamentalists and religious fanatics scare me.
27. My nightmare involves nuclear holocausts, bio-engineered plagues and the rise of the Western Hemisphere as a fundamentalist military state by the year 2030.
28. I'd like to see Egypt before someone blows up the Middle East.
29. I miss my grandmother.
30. I'm afraid of ending up alone like my aunt and bitter like Grandma.
31. I don't express myself very well verbally.
32. I can express myself better literally... not that people in my family understand what I'm saying.
33. The new girl who sits next to me REALLY needs to learn to think more independently.
34. The new guy who works for me may just be more aggravating that Birdy was when he started here.
35. I'm not sure if I can survive this place one more day... let alone at least 4 more months.
36. The more I read stuff Bill Clinton has written since leaving office, the more I like him.
37. I've achieved a Zen state several times in my life.
38. I've come to terms with my dark side.
39. I believe that "darkness" and "evil" are two completely different things.
40. I'd like to see Asia before the US provokes North Korea into blowing it up.
41. I have a hard time respecting the Judeo/Christian/Muslim god because of what he's allowed his followers to do to each other.
42. I once got suspended from elementary school for getting caught on the school's roof on a Saturday.
43. Maybe some day, the person from 10 lines up will remember shit I tell her.
44. I believe that a promise is an oath that is kept for time and all eternity.
45. My concept of "time and all eternity" is exactly that... no strings, no clauses, no loopholes.
46. I don't make promises unless I know I can keep them.
47. I wish my German relatives weren't so far away.
48. Sometimes I wonder if that incident in 8th grade has made me too wary of relationships (Esowolf knows the one I'm talking about).
49. I have a hard time believing that people are interested in me just because and not because they want something from me.
50. I dream of opening a tavern and bake shoppe somewhere where there's enough room on the property for me to build my house behind it.
51. I like to sit center stage, alone, in an empty theatre.
52. I've never been afraid of the dark.
53. I sometimes wonder why the relatives I love the most are the ones I lose first, while the one that causes hate and discontent is still around.
54. I've never been very good at sending out resumes and shit. I always feel like I'm pimping myself.
55. I wish I'd known my Uncle Angelo.
56. I wish someone would take care of all my bills and everyday crap until I'm out of school.
57. Yeah... like THAT's going to happen...
58. I'd like to know where I go at night when I sleep.
59. I don't want to be right about the 2030 thing, but some how I feel I will be.
60. I hope I can afford to live in Fiji or Ireland or Germany by then.
61. I care a lot more than I want to sometimes.
62.The man of my dreams has pretty much always been a vampire... sick huh?
63. I'm sure that means something on a metaphysical level.
64. I wonder how long my hair would be if I'd never hacked it off in 3rd grade then proceeded to get it permmed the next year.
65. I've never been addicted to a drug. I drink caffinated beverages only as a means to stay awake during the day and it doesn't help for very long
|66. I smoked pot for about 8 months straight then stopped.
67. My parents never noticed.
68. Microwaved and buried in cous cous... I still like rabbit.
69. I wonder if I could ever bring myself to do that...
70. It's taken this long and I can't afford it but I've finally ordered the first 4 Harry Potter books.
71. The 5th one may be out before I have time to read them, however.
72. I may not be addicted to drugs but I am addicted to media.
73. After 8 months of culinary school, I still can't stand the idea of eating snails.
74. I just realized that I forgot to unload my pictures from last night.
75. I think it's very depressing that it's taken me almost an entire shift to get this far.

Friday Five

Oh hell... why not...

1. What's your favorite TV show and why? - Witchblade is becoming my favorite this season. It's dark. It's fun. It's kind of like how the Crow: Stairway to Heaven was turning out to be.

2. Who is your favorite television star? - Because I'm shallow that way... I'd have to go with James Marsters... That is one good looking corps. ::drool::

3. What was your favorite TV show as a child? - Buck Rogers... Loved twiggy.

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now? - Star Trek... Since the producers have done such a good job of killing it... And the Simpsons... for reasons I will not discuss here.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season? - Roswell... If nothing else, because I'm very shallow and like watching cute aliens... The storyline's getting really good too.
